AMAZE

Pearl Mary Wilshaw
Suspended

hidden
somewhere within
black and white organ keys
a Great Amen echoing the
last chord

January

Twilit
January,
with heavy, drooping eyelids,
descends the frigid stairwell of
winter.

("January" was originally published in Black Creek Review, 1999)
