AMAZE

A Tribute to The Space Shuttle Columbia

Lullaby

Hush, child,
go back to sleep.
It's a long time till dawn.
The window is closed and the stars
won't fall.

--Rich Magahiz

Over Texas
(2-01-03)

I
Today,
before the clouds,
a coffin breaks across
the sky. Now, rain will never taste
the same.

II
Yonder
above the birds
seven brave shall remain.
For the ground is too small to etch
their names.

  -- Kiwanda Paul

Bright Constellation

Seven
new stars streak east -
they never fall to earth
but circle forever in blue
heaven.

  -- Denis Garrison
Flight Twenty-Eight

Lone Star
no more: seven
fresh novas remind us
the larger the dream, the sharper
its teeth.

-- Ann K. Schwader

Tears for Columbia

Arc trails
across the sky --
sudden morning fireworks.
Metallic rains of sadness fall
to earth.

-- Deborah P. Kolodji
