Welcome to the eleventh issue of Amaze: The Cinquain Journal, marking the beginning of our fifth year of publication.   It’s been a wonderful journey filled with cinquains and new friends.   Thank you for accompanying us on the journey.

With the launch of this issue, I am pleased to make two announcements.

First, the 2006 print annual is now available for sale at http://stores.lulu.com/AmazeTheCinquainJournal.  This edition contains the online content of the four quarterly issues of 2006.  It is available for $14.95 plus shipping and handling.  I am deeply grateful to Denis Garrison for his work in preparing the final print edition manuscript.

Finally, I am excited to announce the creation of the Adelaide Awards.  These awards will be given annually to the best cinquains published in Amaze: The Cinquain Journal in the previous year.  The judge each year will be a cinquain expert who is not a current editor of the magazine.  This year, I’m pleased to announce that our co-founder and editor emeritus, Denis Garrison, agreed to judge this year’s awards.

The Adelaide Award goes to Ann K. Schwader for her poem, “For Nadia,” in the Winter 2006 issue.  Ann will receive $15, a certificate, and a copy of the new 2006 Print Annual.

Second place, $10 and a certificate, goes to Michael L. Evans for his poem, “Anna Akhmatova” from the Fall 2006 issue.

Third place, $5 and a certificate, goes to C. W. Hawes for his poem, “Portent,” from the Winter 2006 issue.

The following poets will also receive certificates:

Fourth Place:             Paul Ingrassia, “Adelaide Crapsey,”  Spring 2006
Fifth Place:                Anya Corke, “Coronation,” Fall 2006
Honorable Mention:    Naia, “Two Swallows in the Rafters,” Summer 2006
Honorable Mention:    Amy Nawrocki, “Tattoo,” Fall 2006

Please be sure to read the in-depth analysis of these poems by Denis.  It is included here in this issue as well as in the 2006 Print Annual.

Congratulations to all the winners and I hope you will enjoy reading this online issue and the new print annual.
