AMAZE
David Jalajel

Batwings

(i)
Bone sticks
beat taut skin. How
they hammer the night thin
and pound out rhythms to dance up
the sky.

(ii)
At dawn,
syncopated rhythms roll up
like scrolls. Music flutters
in a parchment
of wings.
