AMAZE
J.E. Stanley

Reminders

My ring
on her finger,
while her left upper thigh
still bears his name-permanently
tattooed.

Retina, Detaching

The dark
room fills with sparks.
Flashes pop on and off,
here, then gone, in milliseconds.
I think
of stars,
crowding the sky
but instantly burnt out,
leaving only the memory
of light.
