Editor’s
Note
It is the season for newness. New Year’s resolutions. A new date to
write on letters and checks. New bare root roses and fruit trees to plant.
A new calendar to hang on the wall.
Date Change
I pause
after writing
the wrong year on my note
then cross it out, reach for my phone
instead.
Although technically the December 2008 issue of Amaze, it will be
January when this issue goes live. We’ll have a new year and those of us
in the United States will have a new president.
We also plan to return to our schedule of four quarterly issues. I am
also cleaning out my editorial inbox, where there have been some old
submissions waiting for my attention.
If you are waiting for a response from me and haven’t heard from me by
Valentine’s Day, please query me to make sure I have your submission.
Meanwhile the 2008 Amaze Annual is in the works and Joshua Gage has
reviewed the 2007 Amaze Annual on the Cleveland
Poetics blog.
I would like to give special thanks to Susan Constable who produced an
absolutely gorgeous cover haiga on short notice. I’d also like to thank
Lisa Janice Cohen for her support and excellent webwork. In truth, Amaze
would not be possible without her. Finally, I’d like to thank Denis
Garrison for starting me down this path and for being a source of
encouragement to cinquain poets everywhere.
