AMAZE
Darrell Byrd

La Duende

Haunting
la duende
is with me when I dream
on the mesa, in the night wind.
It seems
deft and sharp as lechuguilla
her words pierce my soul
on the lone trail
back home.

Medicine Wheel

Big horn
mountain mantle
medicine wheel in spring --
snowdrifts sketch the path taken by
shaman.
